STAR provides race awareness training workshops for Early Years workers, teachers and support staff
STAR training enables participants
to:
- Explore attitudes to race and culture in schools, Early Years settings and the wider community
- Focus on practical ways of preventing and challenging racism, including in mainly white settings
STAR training workshops cover a range of topics including:
- Historical roots of racism – things we didn’t learn at school
- Positive and negative use of language
- Integrating positive image resources
- Exploring attitudes through statements about race
- Exploring racism through racist incidents case studies
- Legal and Policy Frameworks – the Children Act and Race Relations (Amendment) Act
Workshops use a variety of interactive training methods:
- Small group discussions
- Games and quizzes
- Using STAR’s multicultural resources
STAR runs whole day and twilight workshops
We can tailor courses to suit
your needs
We recommend a maximum of 20 participants
